TEETH WHITENING

TEETH WHITENING

Discolored teeth can come with aging and stained teeth. At some point, teeth whitening may be an excellent option to brighten your smile.

There are many options to whiten your teeth, including toothpaste, whitening strips, rinses, and gels. Many companies offer over-the-counter whitening products that promise quick results. Let’s look at a few options for whitening teeth and their benefits.

Whitening Toothpaste

Whitening toothpaste can be effective in removing surface stains on the teeth. Some toothpaste contains ingredients that are more effective at removing stains. While whitening toothpaste will most likely make your teeth whiter, they do not contain bleach and will not whiten much more than one shade.

Whitening Rinses & Strips

Whitening rinses usually contain hydrogen peroxide or another agent that gradually whitens the teeth. Most of these rinses are used twice daily, and results can be seen within a few months. These rinses will likely give you slower results than whitening strips and gels.

The whitening strips and gels stay on your teeth much longer than the rinses, and have more time to whiten the teeth. With whitening strips, you can see results as soon as a few days and even more with continued use.

Whitening Trays Vs. In-Office Whitening

Whitening trays can be purchased through the dentist, and some over-the-counter products offer whitening trays. These trays are filled with whitening solution and are placed in the mouth over the teeth, usually for a few hours a day. The solution contains peroxide bleach, which results better than toothpaste or rinses. Trays can be used until your teeth get to the desired shade of white. It can take weeks to get the desired results.

In-office whitening is the quickest way to see whitening results. The whitening solution is applied to the teeth and then combined with light and heat to brighten your smile as quickly as one day! Multiple appointments can be made to get a dramatic change in your whitening, but one 30-60 minute session will have you walking out of the office with a brighter smile!
